Help with setting up two controllers with one external sound engine

Post by Jmazer »

I have a Roland Juno ds as my sound engine.

I have a midi controller m-audio 61 key. Single zone midi channel 1.

I have an Akai EWI controller set to midi channel 1.

I can play both successfully triggering sounds and splitting zones etc. when either is set to master device 1. Midi channel 1.

But the controller that is set up as master 2 will register incoming midi data to imidipatchbay but not pass the midi data to the Juno to trigger any sounds.

Only the controller set up as master 1 triggers the Juno sounds.

I usually use the Juno midi channel 1 to set up my output sounds so I am trying to send the data from either controller to that channel. I donor play them simultaneously. It’s either one or the other. But perhaps I still need to set them up on different midi channels or output them to different Juno channels. I need someone to walk me through the correct set up for this.

Like I said when both connected via usb to imidipatchbay both are able to transmit midi data to the iPad but only master 1 midi data is passed out to the Juno.

Thank you.

Jeff.
